Insurance providers require that a client be diagnosed with a mental health disorder in order to reimburse for services. I know that the reasons people seek therapy do not always neatly fit into the criteria for a diagnosis, so you can pay for sessions directly if you do not want any third party to know the details of why you are seeking treatment.
